Enviros, a way to save the planet?

can we as citizens of the world create a system to    save it? 

In our society people are in general aware of the urgent need of saving the environment and my belief is that we all want to contribute in the best way possible. As a consumer it is today very hard to know if your decisions are environmental friendly or not. There is a huge amount of environmental information available but it is not presented in ways that make our everyday life easy to live with an environmental focus.

If we take transport to the workplace as an example it is commonly known that it often is better to commute by public transportation than by own car, but as a consumer you do not have actual figures. And if we consider hybrid cars, or electrical cars it even more complex to compare the alternatives. Let’s say that a ordinary family are planning to buy a new car and want to make the most environmental friendly decision, how shall they be able to get the basics facts for making a reasonable calculation? They need to know how much the environment is affected by the production of a new car and compare that with the affect it has on the environment per driven kilometer. They also need to know the figures for public transportation if that is an alternative for daily commuting.

We have the same problem with all buying decisions that we make today, either as private consumers or as professionals in our work. If we all shall be able to save our planet we need much more support by systems that help us to be responsible citizens.
